About the Institution of Civil Engineers

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) qualifies professionals engaged in civil engineering, exchanges knowledge and best practice, and promotes their contribution to society. ICE members help to create the structures and systems that sustain society and shape the world. They are responsible, for example, for designing, building, maintaining and improving bridges, roads, canals, hospitals, schools, airports, power stations and railways.

ICE is celebrating 200 years of professional excellence in 2018. Today we support over 20,000 students with knowledge, scholarships and a world-wide network of professional contacts to lead them into fulfilling and diverse international careers. ICE also has over 2,000 registered STEM Ambassador members who work with young people and schools to promote understanding of the vital contribution civil engineers make to the world and how to get into careers in the industry.
